Internships at PRS

Internships for Counseling and Social Work programs are currently full. We are not accepting applications at this time.

Thank you for your interest in an internship with PRS!

PRS offers clinical internships in its Recovery Academy Day Programs to students who are enrolled in master’s degree programs in clinical psychology, counseling, social work and related fields.

We seek passionate, dedicated students with an interest in learning about the field of psychiatric rehabilitation and a willingness to work side by side with individuals in our day programs engaged in tasks such as:

  • Psychoeducational group facilitation
  • Hands-on skills teaching to promote independent living, recovery and wellness
  • Community outings & recreational activities
  • Individualized client support, education and training
  • Intake and assessment
  • Individualized recovery planning
  • Crisis intervention

We offer supervision by licensed or unlicensed staff according to the degree program’s requirements. We provide a rich learning experience within a collaborative, positive and team-oriented environment.

Interns are required to work at a minimum within our core program hours of 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

We understand that each student has specific career goals and interests and want students to understand the unique work we do at PRS, Inc. We are not the traditional behavioral health setting in which medications are prescribed and therapy is provided. Our opportunities for individual interventions consist of education, support and training – NOT traditional therapy or counseling. We can work with your school’s requirements to find opportunities to meet individual contact hours within our scope of services.

The Application Process

We accept applications on a first-come, first-served basis. We do not have specific application deadlines and can only offer an internship if there is space available within one of our programs and a staff member available to provide the required supervision.

Requirements for internship opportunities include background checks, finger printing, TB testing, and a confidentiality agreement.

PRS, Inc. values diversity and considers interns based on their qualifications and without regard to race or any traits historically associated with race including hair texture, hair type, and protective hairstyles such as braids, locks and twists, color, ethnicity, gender, gender identity, sex, national origin, age, marital status, religion, spiritual beliefs, socioeconomic status, political affiliation, genetic information, veteran’s status, disability, sensory conditions, sexual orientation, or any other protected class.

Student Intern Testimony

“It is difficult for me to put into words the amount of gratitude and admiration I have for the clients and staff at PRS. I can’t think of a single person here at the Recovery Academy who has not impressed, taught, and influenced me in some way. Every staff member at the RA has taken the time to offer me advice, challenge my inadequacies, and encourage my intuition.” – Emily, former MSW student intern
