PRS, Inc. Promotes Joseph Getch to President & COO of Growing Behavioral Health Nonprofit

New Title Reflects Expanded Responsibilities and Leadership

OAKTON, Va. (July 18, 2019)PRS, a local nonprofit that helps individuals living with serious mental health issues and facing life crises, has promoted long-time executive Joseph Getch to president and chief operating officer (COO). Getch, who joined PRS in 2005 and most recently served as COO, has played a key role in helping shape and guide the organization’s growth and expansion. Getch will
continue reporting to CEO Wendy Gradison.

Since Getch started in 2005, the organization’s revenue and staff have grown over 60%. In addition, he helped shepherd the 2014 PRS merger with CrisisLink, Northern Virginia’s suicide prevention and crisis hotline which, as a program of PRS, has since grown over 130% and extended its reach nationally.

Among his responsibilities, he provides leadership and oversight for the organization’s financial and administrative operations and works collaboratively with clinical leadership and managers to improve operational quality and efficiency of PRS’ programs. In addition to his inward facing responsibilities, Getch manages PRS’ relationships with Virginia’s managed care organizations (MCOs), serves on statewide committees and workgroups and, as board member and treasurer of the Virginia Association of Community-Based Providers (VACBP), advocates on behalf of Virginia’s network of behavioral health private providers. He is also an administrative surveyor with CARF International, which provides worldwide accreditation services to health and human services providers.

Getch has a deep understanding and expertise in nonprofits. Prior to PRS, he held C-suite positions at Best Friends Foundation, First Nations Development Institute, Hitachi Foundation, and the Benton
Foundation. Over the years, he has also been active in the community serving on a number of nonprofit boards, including Domestic Violence Legal Empowerment and Appeals Project, Connect for Kids, and the Rappahannock Council Against Sexual Assault. Getch has an MBA from Virginia Tech, a Master’s in Administration from Central Michigan University, and a Bachelor’s in Economics from George Mason University.

Established in 1963, PRS is a community-based nonprofit that provides skills training and supports to adults living with serious mental illness in Northern Virginia. PRS has grown to be a leader and innovator in the “recovery” model of rehabilitation, which tailors services to each individual’s needs and goals. Today, PRS serves over 800 persons yearly with a variety of rehabilitation services designed to facilitate clients’ recovery from mental illness and assist them in achieving satisfying and productive community lives.
