Shared Space and Resources Help NVMHF Increase Its Reach

Oakton, VA (February 20, 2021)— PRS, a leading behavioral health nonprofit serving Northern Virginia, has forged a stronger partnership with the NOVA Mental Health Foundation (NVMHF) to ensure the availability of more high-quality services for region residents.

“NVMHF is an important part of our mental health community, and together we are committed to ensuring that those affected by serious mental health challenges get access to the services they need to recover,” explained Joseph Getch, CEO, PRS. “By strengthening our partnership with NVMHF, we are helping redirect needed resources to those who need it most. That is good for everyone.”

PRS is providing NVMHF with free office space at its Oakton headquarters to defray costs and ensure NVMHF can reach more people with life-saving support and educational and advocacy efforts. In addition, PRS is helping with NVMHF’s volunteer recruitment and providing free meeting and training space.

“We are delighted to be working even more closely with PRS. Their leadership is giving hope to more families and removing the stigma about addressing mental health issues.  Our partnership is expanding resources and deepening collaboration so we can achieve even more for our community,” explained Cynthia Koshatka, president, NVMHF.

Started over 25 years ago, NVMHF provides grants for individuals served by the Fairfax-Falls Church Community Services Board.  It raises money to pay for goods or services that are part of an individual’s treatment plan when no other funding is available. NVMHF fills the gap, helping move individuals in treatment towards a safer, healthier lifestyle. Since its inception, NVMHF has supported over 6,000 individuals. NVMHF also organizes the annual Wellness & Recovery Conference, offered to individuals in the region that live with mental illness as well as providers and organizations that serve in the mental health field.
